Fairtrade Fortnight 2012

Fairtrade Fortnight is Here!

I’ve been busy taking steps as eye2eye, to promote fairtrade products around MK this week. So far I’ve attended an event at Abbey School and a fund-raising event for local charity Global Education MK on Tuesday evening. We had a great meal and heard from Anton Bowman, a banana grower from St Vincent in the Windward Isles. Anton’s community are currently blighted with yellow Sigatoka, a leaf virus. Because of this, they are presently unable to export bananas, which they rely upon as their key cash crop. We wish them well for a speedy return to normal banana production.

Lots of new fairtrade products on the shelves here in the shop: hand glazed kitchenware and homewares from Shared Earth, lovely bags and accessories from Namaste and gardening products, ready for the Spring from New Overseas Traders, in addition to a wide range of delicious fairtrade wholefoods, and kitchen essentials.

Come and take a look when you’re next in the area.
