A belated Happy New Year from eye2eye Shop!
I hope that 2014 brings you all your hearts desires.
Talking of hearts. . . It’s a busy month ahead!
With Valentines Day on February 14th (delicious fairtrade Raspberry chocolate hearts available from the shop in milk and white chocolate) closely followed by Fairtrade Fortnight February 24th – March 9th, there are also plans afoot at the Courtyard for a spectacular celebration for Mother’s Day on March 30th, including a cake baking competition on an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ theme, (who will be our Queen of ‘Tarts’, I wonder?) So we are busy preparing for a great start to the year.
But more of that in a later blog. .
The theme for Fairtrade Fortnight 2014 is Bananas – Stick with Foncho
As the Fairtrade Foundation point out:
“In the last 10 years, the UK supermarket sector has almost halved the shelf price of loose bananas while the cost of producing them has doubled, trapping many of the farmers and workers who grow them in a cycle of poverty.
Does that sound fair to you?
Our campaign aims to transform the banana industry. We want to make bananas fair. This means that every banana farmer and worker earns enough to have a decent standard of living, works in conditions that are safe and has rights and benefits. It also means bananas are produces in a way that is environmentally sustainable too.”
At eye2eye FairTrade shop, during Fairtrade Fortnight, we will be raising awareness by offering banana recipes and tasters, using Fairtrade bananas, of course, and a list of other delicious Fairtrade ingredients from the shop to exite your tastbuds. Come and support us and do your bit to support Fairtrade by changing one of your usual products for a Fairtrade product this year.
